The Omineca Mining Division encompasses some of the most remote and mineral-rich terrain in northern BC. Cassiar asbestos, tungsten, and placer gold operations have historically defined this district. The Manson Creek goldfields, active since 1871, continue to produce placer gold in the Hogem Range drainages. Modern exploration targets include porphyry copper-gold systems in the Hogem Batholith and sediment-hosted gold along the Omineca Mountains fold belt. Access is via the Omineca Resource Road — typically open June through October.
